Michael Jackson’s Estate Slams ‘Leaving Neverland’ Again, Says Emmy Win Is ‘A Complete Farce’

Michael Jackson ‘s estate is NOT happy about  Leaving Neverland walking away with a win at Sunday’s  Creative Arts Emmys … and they are making their opinions very clear.
The King of Pop’s estate caretakers didn’t hold back in calling out what they consider to be “a farce” of a win. Of course, the doc centers on longtime allegations of child sexual abuse that have long been held against the late pop star — and the Emmy win only further brings those allegations to the forefront here.

In a statement obtained by  People , Jackson’s estate specifically slammed Emmy voters for their decision to award the doc, and added:
“For a film that is a complete fiction to be honored in a nonfiction Emmy category is a complete farce. Not one shred of proof supports this completely one-sided, so-called documentary which was made in secrecy and for which not one person outside of the two subjects and their families were interviewed.”
Wow!
Of course, as you are well aware,  Leaving Neverland  details the allegations against Jackson made by two men —  Wade Robson and  James Safechuck — who both claim they met the pop star as children in the 1980s, and their relationships with him quickly turned sexual.

The late performer’s estate has long denied any allegations against him, of course — at one point calling the documentary film  “another rehash of dated and discredited allegations,” as well as “yet another lurid production in an outrageous and pathetic attempt to exploit and cash in on Michael Jackson” in a statement from back in January.
In response to that whole controversy at the beginning of this year,  HBO fired back against the estate, sending out their own statement (below):
“Despite the desperate lengths taken to undermine the film, our plans remain unchanged. HBO will move forward with the airing of Leaving Neverland . … This will allow everyone the opportunity to assess the film and the claims in it for themselves.”
Obviously, it’s been quite the war of words.
And clearly, the doc has continued to gain traction and legitimacy with its audience  — much to the chagrin of those who stand behind Jackson and his story.
