More than 300 domestic and foreign companies are showing their produce in the Made in Syria Fair, opened on Saturday in the city of Aleppo and this time dedicated to the textile industry.
The event that will last for four days at the fairgrounds of that Syrian town shows clothing for children, women and men, varied lingerie, leather products and all kinds of apparel.
In total, 300 national enterprises and a hundred foreign representations are present, according to Mohamed Zezan, of the Board of Directors of the Aleppo Chamber of Commerce, 350 kilometers north of Damascus.
The exhibition is organized by that institution in cooperation with the Federation of Chambers of Industries and the Association of Textile Exporters.
Currently, Syria is working on recovery that industry, seriously damaged by the terrorist war imposed on the country and which represented, at the time, 12 percent of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) with annual exports amounting to USD$3.3 billion.
To date, the national textile production is concentrated in Aleppo, Damascus and Latakia, after the rehabilitation of 77,000 facilities of the 132,000 that existed in the country, including those dedicated to that sector.
